MATERS Trust organized a slogan competition on suicide prevention to observe the World Mental Health Day 2019.
The competition required participants to write a slogan on suicide prevention highlighting care seeking behaviour among people who may have risk factors for suicide, or preventing suicide/suicide attempts or fighting against the common risk factors like violence, sexual abuse, bullying and cyberbullying, depression, stress e.t.c.
The competition was open for all between the ages of 15 to 45 years.
The participants of the competition came from a diverse academic and professional backgrounds. The winners were from independent University, Bangladesh; University of Asia Pacific, East West University, Dhaka University, Chittagong University and the National Parliament.
A prize giving ceremony was held to honor the winners.
Opening remarks at the prize giving ceremony was given by Dr. Nafisa Huq, Chairman, MATERS Trust and Managing Director Monon Psychiatric Hospital. Brief speech was given Hasnain Sabih BOT, MATERS Trust. There was also an interactive session between the winners, some of their parents, medical offciers at MONON Psychiatric hospital and the management team of MATERS Trust.
MATERS Trust envision a Bangladesh where every individual has opportunity to gain optimum mental health and where every individual with a mental health disorder has access to necessary facilities for early identification, treatment and management.
